Educator A's

Q. How do I order the CreateAskate.org decks?
A. Whoever within your school sets up the CreateAskate.org account will be the person responsible for ordering the skateboard decks and instructional materials.
That person will only need to have the following completed in order to make an accurate purchase:
A: School or personal credit card.
B: A filled out Height gauge chart form indicating amounts of each (WB) to order.
C: School address (All orders are to be shipped to School only!)

Do not go to the order section of the program until you have all of the above completed and ready for use and please read all Information sections in RED!

How to Sign Up and Order

Q. What are the payment methods?
A. Schools establish their CreateAskate.org account before ordering the skateboard decks and instructional material. Payment options are established at that time.

In most cases individual teachers are responsible for collecting the $15 plus shipping and handling per deck, participation fee from each student prior to making their CreateAskate.org order.

Q. What do I get?
A. With your CreateAskate.org order you will receive a professional quality skateboard deck ‘blank,’ with pre-molded contour and pre-drilled truck mounting holes for each participating student; video instructional materials; printed step-by-step instructional materials; and access to internet-based support materials.

Q. How long does it take to receive my order?
A. Typically, orders received will be shipped within five business days, via UPS, from southern California.

Q. What are the shipping costs?
A. UPS’s costs are based upon weight. CreateAskate.org does receive a discounted rate from UPS, however, rates could be as much as $3.00-5.00 per board depending upon a school’s location relative to southern California.

Q. What are the quantities I need to order?
A. Decks can only be ordered in quantity pkg. of 5 and 10 increments. There are no individualized #?s avail.

Ex. You have 12 students participating….your order will have to be 1 (10 pk) and 1 (5pk) to cover the 12 students. The remaining 3 can be used for your next semester of students etc. Have them pay for those 3 decks first on your list prior to ordering next batch.

Q. What are the benefits of bringing the CreateAskate.org program into my class?
A. For shop teachers this may not be the first time you’ve made skateboards with a class of students, but this would more than likely be the first time you could make a professional quality, modern, contour-molded skateboard deck with your students.

That is, we know shop teachers have directed their students in making old-style, flat, plank-style skateboards, which can be a very rewarding experience. The CreateAskate.org skateboard blank provides a completely different experience, whether for shop classes or art design classes. This is the opportunity for you to direct your students in the creation of their own personalized skateboard deck that is, “...just like the pros ride!”

Additionally, the CreateAskate.org instructional materials provide you support materials allowing you to tie together your students’ understanding of how science and mathematics is such an integral part of their skateboard.

You are the instructor, CreateAskate.org puts the information and the materials into your hands—you guide their enthusiasm and their understanding. Guess who gets their adulation? That’s right! It’s a great experience for your students, and you are the one they’ll appreciate for the opportunity!

Q. What materials are necessary for me to have in my woodshop or art classroom?
A. CreateAskate.org’s programs are designed to succeed in both environments. The student activities are very similar, but they’re adapted for the two different types of classrooms. Click on links to see specific lists.
The CreateAskate.org woodshop experience calls for a few power tools, including: jig or band saw, belt or disk sanders, hand sanders, and a few specific measurement tools—tape measures, rulers, a balance or digital scale. Also finish tools: water-based paints and sealer, rollers, brushes, masking tape.

Whereas, CreateAskate.org’s art (design) class program eliminates the need for power tools. A weight scale , rulers, hand (block) sanders and sandpaper are necessary, in addition to the finish tools mentioned above.
The CreateAskate.org program does utilize video presentation in its media and instruction kits, and internet source information is also available.

Q. How long does the CreateAskate.org program take to complete?
A. CreateAskate.org’s woodshop program is designed to be completed in 8 – 10 hours. The lesson plan is structured in an incremental approach—each lesson’s activity prepares the students for the next step. How quickly you direct your student’s progress will depend on your assessment of their understanding while completing each stage of leading to the completion of their skateboard deck.

The CreateAskate.org’s art (design) class program can likely be completed in 5 – 8 classroom hours.

Q. How do I track shipping of our order?
A. Shipping and tracking information will be available once your school has established their CreateAskate.org account. Log in to your account for those details.

Q. How do I sign up?
A. CreateAskate.org’s website has all the information at the <<Order>> page. Each participating school sets up its own account to establish payment options, ordering specifics, and shipping and tracking information.

Q. How do I know what size blanks to order?
A. CreateAskate.org’s skateboard decks can be ordered with different wheelbases. A ratio utilizing each student’s height can determine the proper length of a skateboard’s wheelbase. Thus, one of the first lessons in the CreateAskate.org program, before ordering your decks, is to measure the height of each participating student.

So, not only does the CreateAskate.org’s program allow each student to create their own personal design, but also each student’s skateboard deck will be custom fitted to their height!

Q. How can I tell if an item is out of stock?
A. Your CreateAskate.org account should be able to provide all the information you will need.
